From the time I was a young child I wanted to be one of two things when I grew up, an opera singer or a music teacher! Music teacher won out. I attended the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts as a voice major, followed by a Bachelor of Music from Houghton College in New York State. A highlight of my undergraduate career was a semester at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. After graduation I taught general music at Our Lady of Pompeii Elementary School in Lancaster, New York for half a year while the teacher was on maternity leave. The following school year I taught kindergarten to sixth grade general music in Prince George's County Maryland. In my six years in PG County I served Pointer Ridge Elementary, Yorktown Elementary, Kensington Elementary, Woodmore Elementary and my last three years full time at Greenbelt Elementary. I also directed the children's preparatory choir at the Levine School of Music, and taught early childhood music classes for the Potomac School Summer Program. In 2001 my husband and I relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where I taught in the Cleveland Metropolitan Schools for eleven years teaching kindergarten through eighth grade general music. I served Forest Hill Parkway Academy, Empire CompuTech, Mary B. Martin and Cleveland School of the Arts Lower Campus. During my time in Cleveland I also organized the K-8 All-City Choir program for the district, served as a curriculum adviser, a PAR adviser and presented professional development sessions for my music colleges. In 2012 I was hired in North Olmsted, Ohio and currently teach general music for grades three to six as well as fifth and sixth grade band and orchestra, third grade Prep Choir and fourth to sixth grade Performance Choir. I teach "drum circle" music enrichment classes at the Strings Attached summer program as well as choral enrichment for The Orchestra program at Tri-C on Saturday afternoons. I am serving as the content curator for the Teaching With Orff Web Page. I earned Orff Certification from Baldwin Wallace University in 2014, completed Level One World Music Drumming training, and Level One Music Learning Theory.
